About Our Circle (*)
Pope John Paul II Circle 4976 was founded in 2005 through the efforts of the Knights of Columbus Council 10632. It is named after Pope John Paul II, who was born Karol Jozef Wojtyla on May, 18, 1920, in Wadowice, Poland. His priestly ordination was on November 1, 1946. Pope Pius XII appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of Cracow on July 4, 1958, and was concecrated September 28, 1958, in Wawel Cathedral, Cracow, by Archbishop Baziak. Pope Paul VI nominated him Archbishop of Cracow on January 13, 1964, and made him a cardinal on June 26, 1967. His potificate began on October 16, 1978. He died on April 2, 2005, in his vatican apartment while the world was praying for him. [Source: V.I.S. - Vatican Information Service]
The Pope John Paul II Circle 4976 works closely with the St. Andrew Parish of the Archdiocese of Atlanta in Roswell, Georgia. These young men are active participants in their parish serving as Altar Servers, in the Youth Group, and eager to help in their community.
